 Perfectly Paris - Rooftop Vista
« Thread Started on Jan 28, 2010, 3:23pm »

I just got back from a great 5 night stay.

The apartments is at 89 rue des Martyrs. It's on the 6th (top) floor and there's an elevator. It's about 34 sq. meters, so a good size for 2 people but would be a bit cramped for 4.

The door opens into the living which has a sofa, chair, table and stand with TV, phone & CD player. At the other end of the living room is a dining table with 4 chairs. There are 2 windows, one with a view of Sacre Coeur.

The kitchen is off the end of the room near the dining table. It looks new and is well equipped with fridge, stove top, microwave/oven combo, dishwasher & washing machine. I did limited cooking, but everything seemed to be in good working order and it appeared to e well-equipped to prepare a meal. There's a window with a view to the south.

The bedroom is off the other end of the living room with a good size double bed that's very comfortable. There's a large closet with room to store 1 large suitcase. There are no drawers, but there are shelves in the closet. The window has a view of Sacre Coeur.

The bathroom is off the bedroom and looks relatively new. The shower had good pressure and lots of hot water. The vanity was fairly small. Even with just 1 person, I had to carefully organize my toiletries.

Things I especially liked:

The owner is an artist and several of his paintings are in the apartment. It creates a warm touch. I felt at home from the minute I walked in.

There are CD's with artists from Montartre and also one of the jazz band that the owner is in. I sat one night listening to Edith Piaf, sipping wine and looking at Sacre Coeur. Fantastique!

The apartment was very quiet. It had double paned windows and is on the top floor, so you don't hear street noise or footsteps from above.

Gail and her team provide great service. I arrived 1/2 hour early and phoned Joseph. He was at the apartment in less than 5 minutes.

Things I didn't like:

Nothing

Things to consider:

The bathroom is off the bedroom, so if someone is sleeping they're likely to be disturbed if someone wants to use the bathroom.

The closest Metro is Abbesses, which is one of the deepest stations. There's an elevator, but if for some reason it's not working there are A LOT of stairs to climb.

This was my 2nd time renting from Perfectly Paris. I think Gail provides great service and both apartments have been exactly as described. I would definitely rent from her again.

Janet - I wanted to rent your apartment after I saw your post but it was no longer available. I ended up booking Caulaincourt Charm on 113, rue Caulaincourt. It is a bigger place (73 sq. meters) and the metro is little more convenient for old foggies (like us) and have a couple of buses (#80 will take me to the 7th; 96 will take me to the Latin quarter on to Montparnasse).

That apartment really has a wonderful view!

HEYYYYYYYYYYYY !!!!!!!!!!!!! :o :o That's MY apartment !!!!!!

I was the one who fixed the towel rack from falling off the wall !!

I found a tube of "10 Seconds Glue" and squeezed it into the hole in the wall. Moi, je suis une grande ingénieure........ ;D ;D

These two pictures are taken with my cellphone from the window. It was in June 2007 - before my camera days. I keep those pictures in my phone, they are so precious to me. Along with pictures from Reims cathedral and other souvenirs.

Janet and I (and Pat, "LeSouri" from TA) will take an oath that this is exactly how the view is.

No photoshopping, no phoney wideangle. This is in fact what you wake up to every morning. It's the most breathtaking location in all of Paris. Plus you have one of Paris's best bakeries around the corner - and Le Relais Gascon, you know with the huge salads topped with sinful, butter-and-garlic-fried potatoe slices !!!?

I loved it there: the fresh air, no smog, no pollution. The feeling of being, literally, on the top of the world. The apt. goes around the corner of the building, so the feeling of free flying is just awesome ! It's incredible - it's the closest thing you'll ever get standing at the stern of Titanic with Leo di C.

In the night you can see all the way down to Notre Dame from the kitchen window. No E.T. though - stoopid buildings on the other side of the street block the view.

Some day I will go back - sadly I have become just too much of a miser to spend the 750 euros, when I can have Alain's studio in Rue Caulaincourt for 450 (minus discount). But Gail is still the sweetest landlady you will ever come across.

Lilia - Caulaincourt Charm looks great. It's one of the apartments on my list for future trips.

Gitte - so funny that you fixed the towel rack. I guess the 10 second glue wore out after 2 years. :)

Keylimejet: notice that's it's Alain Eliptiya who is the owner (that other guy I refer to, Chris Pandit, is just his assistant).

The studio has number 591399 at ABRITEL - that's where you should contact Alain.
