I hadn't been to Le Reminet in a while, so on my last day in Paris I went there with an American friend of mine who happened to be in Paris at the same time.

The restaurant itself is just across from Atelier Maitre ALbert, in a very cute section of the 5th, not far from Maubert Mutualite metro stop. We were greeted with a huge smile in a small room with lots of candles on each table. I asked for a table for 2, we didn't have reservations, and they could accommodate us (I think we got lucky, it was a Saturday night).

The menu had a lot of variety. Off my memory I think there were about 8-10 entrees, main dishes and desserts to choose from, but no fixed menu.

They took our order tout de suite and were back with our aperitifs and bottled water in no time. The pacing of the service was great.

I had the foie gras terrine to start. It was like any other foie gras terrine, nothing different. But it was darn good. And served with tons of toasts, which were exchanged for bread when we ran out.

For my main dish I had seared tuna served with "Oh my God what is this sauce" sauce, and a side of whipped sweet potatoes and coriander. I wanted to lick the plate. The tuna was so perfectly done and the presentation of the whole dish was very good. I kept saying "This is the best food I've had all week" through the whole meal.

For dessert I had this chocolate mousse-type dessert. It was three scoops of this mousse (they didn't call it mousse, I can't recall their name) and between each scoop was a wonderful crispy praline cookie. It was the perfect mixture of crunchy with smooth. Next to that was a small coffee flavored pot de creme. I could have licked that plate as well.

Through it all, the waitstaff was so delightful. They spoke French to me, English to my friend, and were happy and smiling through the entire meal. This is definitely on my "must go to" list for the future. I have been before, years ago, but I don't remember it being this delightful. Maybe I just got a good night? I hope not!

We had the same experience at Le Reminet on New Year's Day...really yummy food and the waiter was great. We were downstairs away from everyone, next to this red velvet curtain. My youngest son had the tasting menu...with venison. I had scorpion fish, and my daughter had her favorite meal in Paris - guinea fowl. The other 2 men had veal, I think...
So I'm glad to hear the second good review, 6 months later!...hey, here's a pic of my angels at Le Reminet:

Thanks Annette - I'll have to agree with you, especially since I can't take credit on the boys :D

I had read some so-so reviews on Le Reminet before we left...glad that I ignored them. It was one of our favorite meals and with your review, les, perhaps it means that they're back on their game?!

I don't know! I know this was a great meal and I hope it wasn't just a fluke. But I have read good things about the place on egullet.com, and those folks know good food!

Note, restaurant is closed last three weeks in August.

That restaurant is SO on my list. Seared tuna is one of my favorite dishes. I like it almost as much as I like Berthillon ice-cream. :P

I'm a new poster and was so glad to see this post about one of our favorite Paris restaurants.

We always have dinner there several times on our trips.

I had heard that the restaurant had been sold this past November...just after we'd been there.. and was worried that it might have changed the menu , service or quality.

So it's very reassuring to know it maintains it's high marks.

Can't wait until Nov 13th and I'll be sitting there enjoying it once again!

Thank you for the welcome. I saw a link to this forum on Fodor's this morning and couldn't wait to try it. I've also passed the link onto another friend and she's been here checking it out already too!

We both adore Paris and try to spend a few weeks there every year. Hopefully I can help supply some information as well as get some!

For my most recent Paris trip in April, I puposefully chose Le Reminet for dinner on arrival night. Usually I visit Paris with my husband but went on this trip with our 24 year old daughter instead. Her two previous visits to Paris (with friends) she hated! Imagine, to hate Paris ??? I was determined to show her "my" Paris which includes lots of good eating ;) We arrived on a Saturday morning and spent the day in the 17th,8th and 15th. So for dinner, Le Reminet which was just as fantastic as all of the other times I've eaten there! DD is a French trained chef (French Culinary Institute NYC) and pronounced the food "YUM". And of course, ;)what a great location for an after dinner stroll.

Shoesy, we go there every trip and have never been disappointed. D says they have the best creme brulee in Paris!

We like sitting downstairs in the cellar room. The white haired gentleman , he may be the owner, is always so pleasant and he actually remembers us!

I wanted to, but didn't get my friends there in October. Hubby and I plan to go again the end of this month, as it was our favorite dinner during our last trip together.

Shoesy, you can skip dessert and hea directly to Berthillon, they are so close to one another!

Jody, I've never sat downstairs. I assumed it must be cave-like, as the upstairs is relatively small. Is the downstairs nice then?

Yes, downstairs is really nice. Cozy atmosphere, candles, soft music. It's got the rock walls and domed ceiling (what's the proper term for that?)

Yes, cave-like with stone walls. We prefer it to upstairs, not as much hustle and bustle and door openings!

Phread - That's actually my plan regarding all of the restaurants I go to. If the desserts on the menu don't appeal to us, we'll take a walk (long or short) to Ile St. Louis. ;D

I had never seen pictures of downstairs, Annette. I stand corrected...it looks lovely. And you're right, Jody...when the upstairs is crowded, the person seated in the aisle is inconvenienced throughout their meal.

Downstairs it will be next time!

I and my peeps definitely need to eat at Le Reminet this June! This is going on my "must do" list! My daughter and I "almost" went in to eat there...in March(?), but we were early and no one else was there yet (we just peered through window/door)..so we felt oddly intimidated by that fact..thus went elsewhere. What a mistake ! ;) Do you think we need to make reservations perhaps? Good to know about the "downstairs" tip...I would not have thought /known that last time had we ventured inside! The downstairs looks charming as does Annette and Co.!

We had a lovely time in Feb. upstairs..quite comfortable and enjoyed looking out at the night. Food and service just right. It was a weeknight and not full. When We go again..and we will...I would like to try downstairs!

Not silly. I wouldn't feel awkward dining there with a girlfriend. When we were there, 2 couples across from us were dining together and having a great time (not exactly a romantic interlude!)

Ok, another one to add to "the list"! We will have to stay an extra 2 weeks to fit in all the restaurants I want to try..........not that there would be anything wrong with that!!!
