I love this thread and thank you all for the good ideas. For months, I have wanted to purchase Unexplored Paris, by Rodolphe Trouilleux...without taking out a mortgage on the house. Today, I ordered a used copy. There is another used copy, in English, for 30USD from Eve's Leaves. Here is the link, just click on used. http://www.amazon.com/Unexplored-Paris-2....0036 905&sr=8-1
This may only be for US residents...I tried to order from Eve's Leaves first (I love the name ), but was told that they could not ship to my address. Perhaps she ships only within the U.S.? (I live in Canada.) I am very excited and curious to see this book. What is so great that it costs 55-86USD?

jazz,
Thank you so much. I just ordered the copy from Eve's Leaves. I have wanted it but like you was not prepared to spend higher amounts. It may not come by the holidays but as it for me and not a gift, that is fine.

Holger, I'm so happy that you ordered a copy. Well, I must say that I totally agree with Gitte, it is 'the jewel in the crown'. My 'used copy' was brand new and I have spent endless hours leafing through and and fantasizing. Often, I leap to the computer to explore further a certain part. Most of it was unknown to me, all of these less known treasures I would like to visit. It does seem to surface on amazon from time to time at a decent price. You just have to wait and pounce!
There is another book, Paris Meconnu-promenade des sentiers battus, by Jacques Garance and Maud Ratton. (which Gitte has mentioned, in French) It is now available in english, the title is Secret Paris: Walking off the beaten track http://www.amazon.ca/Secret-Paris-Walkin....3737689&sr=8- 1 My copy is enroute and I am can't wait! It is shipped out of the UK. Happy reading

Here's another book to consider: Paris Intime by Gilbert Falissard. It's in both English and French and I picked it up at Gilbert Jeune for @20E. It's got great photos and includes all 20 arrondissements. Mary
