Help with Musee de la Mode
« Thread Started on Jan 17, 2010, 4:11pm »

I'm bringing my 16 year old niece to Paris to celebrate her birthday. As with most girls this age, she loves fashion.
I see that the Musee de la Mode will be closed until 2011.
Does anyone have any idea of where their collections will be on view during this time? Also, would the textile museum be a good substitution and is that open all the time, or only when particular exhibits are being shown? Thanks for the help!!!

This museum is a good option, but I don't know what will be showing when you visit.

There are free fashion shows at Galleries Lafayette. I've never been, so I can't tell you what they are like, but I do know that you need to reserve in advance.

Paris is basically a temple to high fashion, so even with Galliera closed, just walking the streets will be a thrill.

You have to reserve in advance for the Paris Galleries Lafayette department store (grand magasin), which are held each Friday at 3 p.m. Reservations required so e-mail or tel. +33 [0]1 42 82 36 40. Printemps I thought I read somewhere also has shows.

Sorry, email is : welcome@galerieslafayette.com

Paris is a state of mind, and I am sure I left my mind in Paris, so we're all set, non?

Why not go to the place in Rue de Rivoli "Musée des Arts Décoratifs - Mode et Textile" ?

Don't they have a lot of dresses on display too ?
